Experience

Ten years of building, supporting, and inheriting enterprise healthcare software.

  1. Software Engineer, Wolters Kluwer

    September 2019 – September 2026

    • Designed, built, and maintained enterprise applications, APIs, and backend services across the full lifecycle — requirements and design through deployment and production support.
    • Served as the primary maintainer and subject matter expert for several applications and services, and the person teams asked before changing something load-bearing.
    • Supported CI/CD pipelines, deployments, release readiness, and production monitoring in Azure DevOps.
    • Resolved production issues with an eye on downtime, and raised technical risks and architectural concerns to engineers and stakeholders before they became incidents.
    • Reviewed pull requests against coding, security, and maintainability standards, with SonarQube and Black Duck enforcing the rest.
    • Documented legacy applications, APIs, and services in Confluence, Visio, and Lucidchart, so what I knew outlived my time on the team.
    • Improved performance through refactoring, monitoring, and database tuning, and wrote unit, integration, and regression tests to keep it from regressing.
    • Worked with product owners, QA, architects, and business stakeholders to turn requirements into something shippable.
  2. Software Engineer, Zelis Healthcare

    June 2015 – September 2019

    • Built and maintained healthcare applications in C#, .NET, SQL Server, and Azure.
    • Automated operational processes that had been manual, cutting turnaround time and improving data accuracy.
    • Wrote and tuned stored procedures, queries, and database objects behind high-volume healthcare transaction processing.
    • Designed and maintained SSIS ETL workflows for large-scale integration, transformation, and migration.
    • Built reporting in SSRS and SharePoint that gave operations a clearer view of what was happening.
    • Managed Azure deployments, DLL upgrades, and BACPAC database migrations for cloud-hosted applications.
    • Automated workflows with PowerShell and custom .NET utilities, and partnered with QA through releases.
    • Mentored junior engineers and trained teammates on the systems they were inheriting.
  3. IT Intern, Zelis Healthcare, formerly GlobalCare

    June 2013 – June 2015

    • Worked with trading partners on end-to-end testing and implementation of EDI files, under HIPAA-compliant process.
    • Mapped HCFA 1500 and ANSI X12 datasets, and built XML-to-X12 mappings in webMethods.
    • Loaded flat files into databases and queried SQL Server directly.
    • Wrote batch and PowerShell scripts that took repetitive manual work off the team.
